Ace Race Parts 321 Stainless Steel Mandrel Bends are a high quality, cost effective solution automotive headers and exhaust systems, as well as aircraft exhaust manifolds. For high temperature applications, such as turbo manifolds, high horsepower exhaust applications, and even aircraft manifolds, 321 Stainless is a superior choice when compared to 304 Stainless. 321 Stainless has a similar chemical composition to 304 stainless; however, 321 Stainless uses Titanium as a stabilizing element and offers much higher strength and temperature resistance as compared to 304 Stainless material. In the 800°F to 1,562°F temperature range, 321 Stainless is not susceptible to the same level of corrosion as 304 Stainless and is the material grade of choice for applications with temperature ranges up to 1,652°F (intermittent service) and 1,697°F (continuous service).
Our 321 Stainless Mandrel Bends are now available in both 45° and 90° bend options with outside diameters ranging from 1.500" to 3.500". Our Mandrel Bends are precision bent using a CNC mandrel bender in an ISO 9001 certified facility to ensure that the degree and centerline radius of each bend is consistent and free of defects. After the bending process is completed each mandrel bend is then de-burred and polished to a 600 grit finish to ensure a clean finish on the ends and surface.
Our mandrel bends are a perfect match for our stainless steel Tube, stainless steel V-Band Clamps and Flanges, Tube Size Fittings, Exhaust Flanges, and Flex Couplings and Flex Bellows.

321 Stainless Steel, like 304 Stainless Steel, is a low carbon, chromium nickel alloy with good intergranular corrosion resistance. 304 Stainless has good corrosion resistance up to 1,562°F (850°C); whereas, 321 Stainless allows for a higher temperature limit, including long term exposure to high temperatures, up to 1,652°F (900°C) due to the addition of Titanium, which acts as a stabilizer. 321 Stainless Steel's main advantage over 304 Stainless Steel in high temperature environments is that 321 Stainless offers better resistance to stress fractures. This higher resistance to stress fractures has advantages in automotive applications where differences in the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (heat-related expansion and contraction which occurs at different rates) are greatest — typically between the engine and the manifold(s). 321 Stainless is better suited to handle this type of heat-related stress, as compared to 304 Stainless. While 304 Stainless is suitable for a wide variety of automotive applications, 321 Stainless is the superior choice for high temperature applications, and especially applications that see long term exposure to high temperatures like race cars, and offers a higher resistance to stress fractures and heat-related corrosion. For welding 321 Stainless Steel (including welding 321 Stainless to 304 Stainless) we recommend ER347 Filler Rod.
What is Tube and How is it Different from Pipe?
Tube size material is measured by the actual outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness. Whereas, Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) is an industry designation, or "trade size", and it is does not reference the actual measured size of the material. Even the most experienced fabricators are sometimes confused by the industry's terminology and method of sizing. Tube size material is not compatible with pipe size material. Many times the words "pipe" and "tube" are use to describe straight lengths of material (eg: exhaust "piping"); however, the industry standard term for this material is "tube".
Note: Please be sure to verify that this tube size material meets the requirements of your project. It is the customer's responsibility to verify the compatibility of the items in their shopping cart. Ace Race Parts is not responsible for orders with mismatched or incompatible products.
