FASTENER NOTES:
Did you know that each V-Band Clamp or V-Band Assembly comes with two types of nuts? The two types of nuts that we supply are a zinc plated Hex Lock Nut (non-nylon) and a zinc plated Non-Locking Hex Nut.
The Hex Lock Nut is to be used during final installation only. The purpose of a lock nut is to ensure that the nut stays "locked" in place on the threaded fastener section and is one element that helps create the air-tight seal that V-Band Clamps are known for.
The Non-Locking Hex Nut is provided so that the clamp can be used during mock-up, fitment, and pre-installation situations, or other situations where a lock nut is not required.
We would like to reiterate that the metal lock nut is a locking-style nut and is not intended to be used during mock-up. Metal lock nuts will begin to “lock” onto the bolt as soon as it is threaded on. Metal lock nuts should NOT be removed frequently.
Attempting to thread, remove, and re-thread the lock nut may cause damage to the "T-Bolt" section of the clamp. In some cases, excessive force can damage and/or break the "T-Bolt" section of the exhaust v-band clamp. If you intend to use our clamps during the mock-up process please use a non-locking hex nut.
DISCLAIMER:
Ace Race Parts is NOT responsible for damaged caused to our clamps due to the use of any locking-style nut during mock-up or during the removal process. We do not offer a warranty on the threaded portion of an V-Band Clamp.
COMPATIBILITY DISCLAIMER:
Due to flange dimension differences, "Standard" style and "Quick Release" style V-Band Clamps and Flanges are NOT cross-compatible. Ace Race Parts is NOT responsible if incompatible V-Band components are ordered. We do not offer any compatibility guarantee with any other brand of V-Band components.
TORQUE SPECS:
Please note that the lock nuts supplied with our V-Band Clamps do not require a great amount of torque to be secured on the clamp. The torque specifications listed below apply to all sizes and styles of our V-Band Clamps.
- Dry Torque Specs: 10-14ft/lbs
- Lubed Torque Specs: 7.2-10ft/lbs
Please note that an impact wrench should never be used to install a V-Band Clamp.
